DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY : EDUCATIONAL VISITS
This year, students of Botany visited several places of botanical interest. The details are as follows:
  • Vir Jijamata Udyan?on?24th June 2010 by T.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
  • Malshej Ghat on 12th August 2010 by S.Y.B.Sc., T.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
  • Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali on 23rd September 2010 by T.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
  • Chandigadh, Shimla, Kulu and Manali ?TOUR from 19th December to 28th December 2010 by S.Y.B.Sc., T.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
  • Mahableshwar, Panchgani and Pratapgadh on 23rd to 25th January 2011 by F.Y.B.Sc. students.
  • Visits to Gardens and Flower shows and plant exhibitions were also arranged for T.Y.B.Sc. Horticulture students
The field visits and excursions were conducted to inculcate interest in students for the subject. The students got opportunity to observe and study plants in their natural habitats.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY: EDUCATIONAL VISITS
  • M.Sc Part-I students visited Indian Institute of Immunohematology on 15th?December 2010 to observe the current advances in the field of medical diagnostics.
  • M.Sc Part-II students visited Reliance Life Sciences on 16th?December 2010 where? ?? ?they were able to observe the recent research activities in the field of regenerative medicine.
  • M.Sc part I students visited Reliable Labs to get a hands- on experience in handling sophisticated instruments like HPLC and Gas Chromatography on?6th January 2011
  • T.Y.B.Sc?students visited Sula Wines, Nasik where they were exposed to the commercial production of different types of wine on11th January 2011. They also visited Pandav-leni in Nasik.
  • The?T.Y.B.Sc?students visited the?Laboratory-Nuclear Medicine Centre(BARC) housed at Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel on?27th January 2011.?The students were shown several techniques such as PCR, ELISA and RIA.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS: VISITS
  • A visit to the Reserve Bank of India was arranged on 1st July, 2010 by Economics association. The Money Museum of the RBI displaying different phases of coinage from the 6th Century AD to medieval age, princely states, Pre-British, Pre & Post Independence periods and introduction of paper currency with the Promissory Notes Acts of 1861 along with information about the Governors of RBI was found to be informative & interesting. Interaction with the Deputy Manager & PRO of RBI was very useful to the students.

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY: EXCURSIONS AND VISITS
  • TYBA students visited the Discovery of India, a Permanent Exhibition at The Nehru Centre, Worli.
  • The History Association organized an Excursion to Elephanta Caves for SY and TY BA students.

DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY: EDUCATIONAL VISITS
  • A One day study Tour organised for the M.Sc and T.Y.B.Sc students to Pune in January 2011. The students visited Mitcon, Agricultural College, KF Bioplants (industry) and Vasant Dada Sugar Institute.
  • The M.Sc students visited Circot Research Institute, Matunga and ACTREC, Kharghar.
  • The T.Y.B.Sc students visited ACTREC, Kharghar.

DEPARTMENT OF MASS MEDIA : FIELD TRIPS AND VISITS
  • Visit to the JJ Printing Department for the SY BMM students on 15th January 2011
  • Industrial visit for students of TYBMM Journalism to Mahape printing press to show newspaper and magazine making on 1st July 2010
  • Mumbai Heritage Walk for the students of TYBMM on 7th August 2010
  • Visit to NDTV for students TYBMM Journalism on 21st December 2010

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES : FIELD TRIPS AND INDUSTRIAL VISITS
  • A Field trip to ?RELIANCE FRESH? on 8th January 2011 organized to show how a food retail chain functions.
  • A field trip to ?GLOBUS? on 15th January 2011 organized to understand, on a comparative basis, the way a fashion retail functions.

DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY: EXCURSIONS AND VISITS
  • A zoological excursion to Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and Research Centre arranged on 28th Aug. 2010 at Katraj, Pune for S.Y.BSc students.
  • A zoological excursion to Sanjay Gandhi National Park , ?Borivli, Mumbai for T.Y.BSc students.
  • A zoological excursion for S.Y.BSc, T.Y.BSc and M.Sc. students to Ranthambhore and Bhatarpur National Park, Rajasthan from 6th to 11th January 2011
