The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension [DLLE] (known earlier as Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Extension) was established on October 12, in the Year 1978 and has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. The DLLE offers flexible Continuing Education opportunities for the people. |

The Extension program in this academic year has 25 students from across faculties. The Student Manager is Ms. Gouri Suresh, TYBA- Psychology.? The Co-ordinator, Seema C and the Student Manager, Gouri Suresh attended the First Term Training Program for Extension Work Teachers and Student Managers organized by Dept. of Lifelong Learning and Extension on 3rd August, 2013 at Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, Churchgate. |
The 25 students of Lifelong Learning and Extension were taken on a field visit to the Department of LLE, Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, Churchgate, Mumbai where they attended an Orientation Session on 25th Sept. 2013. |
The Co-ordinator, Seema C attended the Second Term Training Program for Extension Work Teachers and Student Managers organized by Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension on 4th December 2013 at Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, Churchgate. |
The Extension Work Students participated in Street Play and Poster competition of the annual fest 'UDAAN- The Flight of Extension' organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, University of Mumbai.? Several colleges from all over Mumbai and Thane participated in this festival organized in SIES College of Commerce and Economics, Sion (E) on 23rd January 2014. The SIES Extension Work Students won the Second Prize in the Poster Competition and won the Consolation Prize in the Street play Competition. |
The LLE students also performed the streetplay in the college quadrangle on 6th February 2014 as part of the WDC (Women Development Cell) initiative for creating awareness about the issues that women face. |

Academic Year 2012-2013 |
The Extension program in SIES entered its second year with 30 students from across faculties. The students were enrolled for various online courses after being oriented by the Co-ordinator, Prof Seema C and the Student Manager, Sushreeta Sule. The Co-ordinator and the Student Manager also attended the First Term Training Program held on 2nd August 2012 in B N Bandodkar College, Thane and the Second Term Training Program held on 29th November 2013 in Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, Churchgate. |
Additionally, some of the Extension Work Students were part of a charity drive to donate saris (sponsored by the SIES Management) to the underprivileged women of Chandip Tribal Village. The visit was organised on 15th October 2012 on the occasion of APJ Abdul Kalam's birthday. 260 saris were given away by us to underprivileged, aadivasi women of Chandip. We were helped by volunteers from Nirmiti Youth Foundation who work to uplift the people in Chandip. |
The students are currently gearing up to participate in the annual fest ?UDAAN? organised by the DLLE, Mumbai University. The students would be presenting a street-play and participating in a poster-making competition. The festival is scheduled to happen on 18th January 2013. |

Our association with DLLE has started this year and we have enrolled students in various Online Courses offered by the DLLE. The aim is to equip the students with skills relevant for academic and career development. |
There is 1 Extension Work Teacher, 1 Student Manager and there are 23 Extension Students associated with the programme for the current academic year.? The Student Manager is Ms. Sushreeta Sule from SYBA and the Extension Work Teacher is Ms. Seema C. from the Department of English. |
The Student Manager and the Extension Work Teacher have participated in the Training Programmes held in the First and Second Terms. They have oriented students on the online courses offered by the DLLE.? These interactive online courses have encouraged students towards the flexibility and independence of e-learning. |
