The first meeting of the Students?Council was held on 8thof Sept 2009, which was presided over by our Principal, Dr.Harsha Mehta. The Principal explained to the students the significance of the Council, its duties, responsibilities and the tasks to be undertaken by the Council. The students were made aware regarding the various statutory and non-statutory committees of the college and were encouraged to actively participate in them. Since there was no notification from the university regarding the formation of the Students? Council, it was decided that an AD-HOC Students? Council will be formed as per the notification given in the previous year. The Principal motivated the students and explained that they were the future leaders and the visionaries and they are the link between the college management and the students.

The first initiative taken by the Students? Council was Water and Electricity Conservation in the college and hence the Ecosophy Club was formed. Students were also made aware of the different activities planned, as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college.

Mr. Dhairya M. Kajaria (TYBMS) was unanimously selected as the AD-HOC General Secretary on 30th Sept,2009.

1. The members of the Students? Council attended and supported the Usha Uthup Night which was organised on 5th Sept. 2009 by SIES College at Shanmukhananda Hall.
2. On the 26th of September 2009, the annual prize distribution ceremony was held. The guest of honour was none other than Mr. Mylswamy Annadurai, Director: Chandrayaan Expedition. A large gathering of people assembled in college for the ceremony consisting of media, students, teachers, prize winners and their parents. The Students? Council members took up the responsibility of managing the crowd and helping in the smooth conduct of the function.
3. In order to pay tribute to the martyrs of 26/11/08,students were requested to assemble in the college quadrangle and maintain silence for 2 minutes. The Students? Council members were an integral part of the human chain which was formed on the main road of Sion, as per the directions of the Mumbai police which had organized this event.
4. An interactive skin care and hair care Seminar was conducted on 19/12/09 by Dr.Meghna Phiske and Dr.Sheena from the dermatology department of Lokamanya Tilak Medical College (Sion).
5. A ?Career festival, ?Manzilien? was organised on the 17th,18th and 19th of December in which many seminars and workshops were conducted to guide the students for their careers and make them aware of their bright future. This festival proved to be a great success. The Student?s Council members took care of the PR (Public Relations) activities for the same.
6. The other activities conductedby the Council were?Chocolate day? on 16th Dec,09and traditional day on 18th Dec,09.These activities are eagerly awaited by all the students. There was an overwhelming response from the students. The colourful clothes worn by the students gave a very cheerful look.??
7. The other major activity undertaken by the Council is ?Visions? which is an intra and inter-collegiate festival.Visions was conducted on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd? December,09. The immense success and huge participation of other colleges was one of the biggest successes of the Students? Council.The Students? Council had significant participation in Visions, the Annual Inter-Collegiate Cultural Festival. The following members of the Students? 8. The SIES management conducts an Annual Eminence Awards function at Shanmukhananda Auditorium. The awardees are luminaries from different fields like cinema, social service, literature etc. This year the award function was held on 25th of December,2009 and Students? Council members were present for the same.
9. Ecosophy: The activities of the Ecosophy club for the year 2009-2010 are :
   • Organized a ?Green? week in the month of January
   • Created an awareness amongst the people on environmental issues

Dhairya Kajaria and Kasturi Jathar were awarded ?the Best all rounder students of the year 2009-10.
