KALPAVRIKSHA

?Kalpavriksha? was the 3 days educational festival organized by the students of Botany under the common banner ?VISIONS?. It was held on 8th, 9th and 10th of December 2010. It attracted both the UG and PG students from all over Mumbai.
Workshop on fruit processing and preservation was a great hit.? The workshop was attended by students and faculty members from other departments. An?exhibition cum sale of various ornamental and medicinal plants was also arranged by the students. The students explained the ornamental and medicinal values of each plant in a very vivid manner. Besides this, there was an herbal juice section in which varieties of fresh herbal juices & Kashmiri tea (Kahwa) prepared by the students were offered to the visitors.

Overall, this year, Kalpavriksha witnessed around 150 participants and was a great success.

MICRO EXPLORE
|
Microexplore was held in the month of August 2010. It is an annual exhibition conducted for the students by the students. The S.Y.B.Sc students organised an exhibition for the students of F.Y.B.Sc to familiarize them with the subject of Microbiology. This exhibition was open to all and especially to the students of Junior College in order to familiarize them with the various options in Microbiology. The students prepared several exhibits and working models on various topics in Microbiology.? |

The academic year 2010-2011 witnessed the rise of PHOENIX again!! This title matches the IT department in its truest sense? |
The combination of a supportive faculty and 30 dedicated team mates contributed to the grand success of PHOENIX.? The fest was one of the portfolios under VISIONS and not an individual departmental fest. All the strategical and financial work were centralized and organized pretty well by the visions mates?The main attraction this year was the PHOENIX model. |
EVENTS |
PHOENIX? comprised of six unique events that were executed in a span of three days.
A whooping number of participation from intra as well as inter colleges registered with PHOENIX: |

JIGSAW C : Jigsaw C challanged the C programming skills of IT enthusiasts. This event proved to be a great success with 47 participants. The event relied heavily on the basics of C language in which a C programme was split into a number of parts. The challenge was to assemble all the parts of the given programme in correct sequence in the minimum time possible.The final round meant to form the flow charts. The three finalists were grilled through a rapid fire session of questions related to C programming.

RUSH HOUR: This year the event rolled back again as the star event. RUSH HOUR mustered a huge crowd attracting 100 people in the first few days of registration. The participants were provided with RC cars and were required to cross all hurdles through their ability to swift through the circuit. The better change in the round was that this event was planned as a race in the first 2 rounds which increased the interest of the participants. And the final round was the time out round. Dishant Kembhavi of our own SIES college proved to be the stalwart of the event.??

Whats your CQ : ?Whats your CQ? tested the basic computer knowledge. This event also proved a huge success. The eventual round tested the ability of participants to utilize the shortcuts through keyboard without using mouse

CROOKED: ?This event was something new this year, an event which corresponded to puzzle games. First round was the actual puzzles that kids usually play. The second round was answering logical questions as quick as it can be solved. And the finals comprised of the famous quiz game sudoku. Five of them made to the finals.

IT ladder: As the name says this is a rip off the traditional classical game Snakes & Ladders. The maximum participants was restricted to 50. The main difference was the use of ?teleports as ladders ?and viruses as snakes. Virus? role was played by the PHOENIX team members. ?It was a great fun to play.

Quick gun:? a great event of PHOENIX?10? was no lesser than a star event. The participation overflowed beyond expectations. It was a two and a half hour event and the participations count was 121 which was truly a great task to manage. The whole event was a thrill event full of twists, suspense and surprises. The event was simply shooting the targets with the gun we provided. Three simple rounds with different strategies. Finally three participants got through the semis and to the finals.

And as a great surprise and suspense, the winner and the runner up were females. |
Through all the hurdles Ketaki Vardekar of our SIES College proved to be the actual shooter really proving that ?THERE?S NOTHING GIRLS CAN?T DO?. |

XZOOBERANCE
|
?Xzooberance? is the annual departmental festival conducted by the Zoology department. It started out as an individual festival and has now become a part of the annual college festival ?Visions? for the past 3 years. |
This year Xzooberance was conducted from the 9th to the 11th? December 2011? and was a portfolio among many others. As part of the World Fiesta theme of Visions ?10, Xzooberance chose to highlight the Reptiles and the Snakes. |
The pre-event preparations started 3 months prior to the event date. The volunteers of the portfolio made a 3 ft long 3-dimensional model of King Cobra. They also painted big poster of a Snake. The model was appreciated by one and all. Apart from this was also a model of a detective and a sculptured wooden board of Xzooberance. This board was painted with different patterns of the reptiles to highlight the topic. |
Xzooberance ?10 had 6 events? ranging from the educational events to the fun-filled non-educational ones. The events were named Mystery Quest, Minute to win it, Face-Off, Jungle Reels, Anipix and Nukkad Natak ?a Street Play. |

- ?Face Off!!? comprised of 6 physically grueling and mentally challenging tasks and it tested the endurance of the participants. There were several highlights with one of them being the personal interview taken by Dr. Satish Sarfare and Prof. George Abraham of our college. Our Principal personally awarded the winners of this event.
- ?Minute to win it? was an event based on the reality show on Television. The participants were given a certain task which had to be performed in a minute. This event was so enjoyable that even the professors of our college tried their hands on the tasks.
- Wildlife Photography has been an event conducted in this portfolio right from its inception. This? was a huge success in terms of participation and quality of photos. This year Anipix (wildlife photography)? had 2 different themes
- Theme 1-Reptiles: ?This was a passive theme.
- Theme 2-Insects and Butterflies: This was an outdoor event where participants were taken to a location. They were given a duration of 2 hrs to click and submit two photos.

Anipix was judged by Mr. Nirbhay Patil, a reputed photographer and President?s award winner.
- Mystery Quest : This was an event based on the solving of ?different mystery cases. This event challenged the detective minds of the participants.
- Dumb Charades : This event was called Jungle Reels where participants enacted ?the different Biological terms given to them by actions.
- This year saw the re-inclusion of Street Play. It was called Nukkad Natak. This event highlighted street plays based the economic and natural problems plaguing the Indian society and the biological world around us. This event was judged by people from famous NGO Naujawan-e-Hind known for their street plays.

Xzooberance ?10 was a grand success and saw participation in huge numbers both inter college and intra-college. Everyone appreciated the events. Thanks to the hardwork of all the volunteers. The future of this festival looks bright and we hope that success keeps flowing in year after year as this festival grows. |

ZIEGERS

Ziegers - Computer Science Festival is being celebrated from last five years. This year Zeigers ?10 was held on 09th, 10th and 11th December 2010 during Visions ? The College Fest. |
The first day commenced with an enormous response to the star event of LAN gaming - NFS and Type Racer. On the second day LAN gaming - FIFA was played. Web Designing event had its share of participation from the brainy and creative lot of students. Both the events continued to receive overwhelming response. The third day began with finals of LAN Gaming. The game Counter Strike was played. Photomate along with IT Quiz / Crossword, the brain events, were held, where participants were tested on their IT knowledge and creativity. |
Thus the 3 day fest was a great hit among the students of not only our college but also among students of 30 other colleges who participated and contributed to the success of ZEIGERS ?10. |
The entire Ziegers teams whole heartedly thank all the supporters. |
