The intra collegiate festival Visions is symbolic of the pride that SIES has in its students and their talents. With this view in mind, we at SIES organized performing arts events for its budding talent, on two full days, jam packed. Visions was celebrated, this year, on 21st and 22nd December, in a brand new format. It saw maximum student turnout and the line of participants for the various auditions never seemed to end.
Day one began with the official inauguration of the festival by lighting of the lamp followed by the Principal?s address to students. She motivated them to give their best shot at the events and face defeat with a sporting spirit.
Some of the competitions included Western vocals, Indian vocals and Instrumentals where our wonderful musicians showcased their skills with various instruments including Guitar, Tabla and Violin amongst others. One of our judges danced in ?gangman? style. The crowd was overjoyed and danced with her. Our teachers, Ms. Sudha B , Mr. Vivekanand Bam and even Mr. Sachin from the non teaching staff , in an? exuberant mood rendered songs mellifluously. The students from the visually challenged section, very enthusiastically, rendered many a song and also danced, perfectly synchronizing with each other. Their performance was easily one of the most popular events of Visons.
The students of Bio - technology department showcased a play on the causes and effects of mouth cancer. In order to add an interesting twist, they made use of humour to effectively get their message across to the audience. The play included various song and dance sections too. All in all, this play won the audience?s heart.
Day two began with dancers capturing everyone?s hearts. Some of the dances and the costumes were indeed breath taking. The lavani number was enjoyed by one and all. The judges were floored by the talent of these budding artists. One of the judges Ms Geetha Vijayshankar mesmerized us with her dance movements. All the events were judged by dancers and singers of repute.
A dance? event by? Angels & Groove , semi -finalists of India's Got Talent (An acclaimed T.V show) was by far? the most popular one and literally brought the house down with students clamouring for more with the deafening sounds of ?once more?. It was indeed a very special event.?
One of the most awaited events of SIES College is the annual personality contest looking for
Mr. and Miss SIES, two students, who excel in all spheres. This event was the highlight of day two and was judged by our beloved Principal Dr. Harsha Mehta along with other judges. Besides this, a group of talented students also rapped for the enthusiastic audience.
The Treasure Hunt finalists, who can put even Sherlock Holmes to shame, puzzled over the clues waiting for them in and around Sion and King Circle area, in a bid to win the grand prize waiting for them.
This was followed by the prize distribution where attractive prizes like iball speakers, web cameras, head phones, Crossword vouchers were given away to all the winners .
The festival ended with a high energy JAM session which was organized for all the students and the volunteers who worked hard to make Visions a grand success.?
